Help us raise £2 million

As we launch our three-year partnership with Age UK, voted for by our colleagues and customers, we’re aiming to help older people who may be feeling lonely.

Why it matters

Home is meant to be a place of comfort and happiness – full to the brim with life events and important moments. But for too many older people in the UK right now, home just isn’t home. For many, it’s a struggle to just survive. Home doesn’t feel like home when you can’t afford to put the heating on or get food in the fridge. Home doesn’t feel like home for older households living in ‘non-decent’ housing. And home doesn’t feel like home when you’re lonely.

Three million over-65s say the TV or radio is their main source of company.* Together, we can change this.

Our fundraising will help...

Provide information, advice, friendship and practical support to older people in their homes and local communities:

Home help Providing 2,000 older people with practical support at home. Telephone friendship service Reaching out regularly with 30,000 telephone friendship calls. Information & advice Ensuring 200,000 older people can get the advice they need, when they need it.Local community funds Used by local Age UKs to provide community activities and support.

Donations and fundraising by Dunelm staff and customers for Age UK (registered charity number 1128267) will help fund national and local Age UK services to help older people at home and in communities. For more information and to get involved go to ageuk.org.uk/dunelm. *Age UK calculation based on data (weighted to be representative of the UK population) from Yonder online and telephone omnibus research polling for Age UK, November 2023 (weighted sample of 2632 people aged 65+ in the UK, between 14th and 27th October 2023) and ONS mid-year 2021 population estimates (published 21st December 2022). 24.11% of people aged 65 & over in the UK ‘slightly agree’ or ‘strongly agree’ with the statement ‘The TV/radio is my main source of company’ which equates to 3,024,702 people (24.11% multiplied by 12,537,031).
