The ultimate expression of the twig tree, however, has to be the illuminated display. Whether you add your own LED lights or get one of our pre-lit trees off the shelf, they can make a stunning spectacle that’s definitely festive in appearance. The tiny lights can stud the whole lengths of all the twigs, which has the effect of creating a bathing patch of light all around them. But the lights can also simply be at the ends of the twigs, that has the effect of those classic fibre optic ornaments, but with a real natural touch.
Twig trees can also come bent, shaped and tied into interesting and seasonal shapes. Birch twig trees and berry twig trees are some of the most standout varieties. Most common is, appropriately enough, a classic Christmas tree shape, made by bending the long twigs into sharp angles. Again, they can have lights attached, so they become instantly sparkling expressions of festive fun. But just in their raw, natural state, they hark back to the ancient winter traditions of old and are all the more wonderful for it.
