Cookie Policy
Our cookies and equivalent technologies policy
Our website, Dunelm.com, and the Dunelm mobile apps (collectively referred to as “Website”) uses small text files known as cookies and equivalent technologies, such as tags, pixels and software development kits (hereafter referred to as “cookies”) to help you navigate our Website and allow us to provide you with features, personalise content and give you the best possible experience.
If you choose to disable all cookies it means your shopping experience will be limited to browsing. It also means you won’t be able to add products to your basket and buy them.
For more information on how we use cookies and how you can remove them, see below.
Types of cookies we use
First and third-party cookies
First party cookies are created and owned by us and directly stored by our Website. Many of these cookies are all essential and allow us to perform the functions necessary for operation of the site.
Our Website also uses third party cookies from selected and monitored suppliers who may also set cookies or employ cookieless approaches during your visit to show you different products and services based on what you have shown an interest in.
How the 'Ask Dunelm' Shopping Agent uses your data and consent choices
The 'Ask Dunelm' Shopping Agent is designed to provide a more personalised and seamless experience when you’re browsing and shopping with us. To do this, it relies on certain types of cookies and data use. The feature will only be available if you have given consent for both functional cookies (which enable core features) and performance & analytics cookies (which help us understand how the feature is used and improve it over time).
- If you accept all cookies The Shopping Agent will be available and will work as intended, including remembering your activity, providing personalised suggestions, and helping us improve the service.
- If you decline functional or performance & analytics cookies The Shopping Agent will not be shown and will not be available. This ensures we only use your data for this feature where the necessary permissions are in place.
- If you only allow essential cookies or reject all cookies The Shopping Agent will not be shown and will not be available. This approach means that when the Shopping Agent is available, it always operates with the appropriate permissions to support both its functionality and ongoing improvement, and we avoid using your data in ways you have not agreed to.

How uploaded images and files are handled
If you choose to upload an image or file when using the 'Ask Dunelm' Shopping Agent, we take care to ensure it is handled securely and in line with your privacy choices.
- You keep ownership Any images or files you upload remain yours. They are not owned by Google or transferred to third parties.
- Used only to provide the service Your uploads are used solely to support the Shopping Agent experience (for example, helping to understand your request and return relevant product results).
- Stored securely and separately Uploaded content is stored within Dunelm’s secure, dedicated Google Cloud environment. It is kept separate from other customers’ data and is not accessible outside of this controlled setup. Google can perform a manual "wipeout by user id" upon request. Additionally, session data is automatically purged after 30 days by default.
- Not used to train AI models Your images, files and interactions are not used to train Google’s underlying AI models. They are treated as confidential and used only to deliver the service to you.
- Quality and safety monitoring In line with standard service terms, limited automated monitoring may take place to ensure the service is working correctly and safely. This is for quality and performance purposes only, not for training models or reusing your data elsewhere. This approach ensures that any content you upload is handled responsibly, remains under your control, and is only used to support your experience with the Shopping Agent.
